“Only an adult can be a soldier. It cannot be a child,” James was kidnapped and used as a soldier for three years in South Sudan.
During a battle, his leg was badly injured, and he was left for dead. A UN patrol found him and brought him to the capital Juba for treatment. James healed and with help from UNICEF, was reunited with his family and is now doing well at school.
James hopes that peace will soon return to South Sudan. “Without peace, I will not be able to continue studying and my country will not be able to develop.”
We must help children like James achieve their dreams. The use of children in conflict must end now.
