Bangladesh is highly vulnerable to climate-related shocks and stresses, with the impacts of the climate crisis further exacerbate existing challenges. Last year, the country was struck by one of the most severe floods of the last few decades that affected 5.4 million people.
Just as floodwaters were rising and threatening their home, Johura and Bokkor received cash from the Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF) to buy dry food to last them through the flooding.
The @worldfoodprogramme(WFP) works with partners to improve weather forecasting and flood data in Bangladesh, so people like Johura and Bokkor can prepare ahead of floodwaters and other weather disasters.⠀
