“Before, during normal holidays, I could play with my neighbours and my cousins when I visited them, but when schools closed because of COVID-19, we weren’t allowed to go and visit families and friends,” says 10-year-old Olivier in Rwanda. “I had no one to play with as all my friends had to stay home too. It was difficult for me.”
After staying home for eight months Olivier is finally back in the classroom. To support children’s learning and mental health, schools must reopen as soon as possible.
