13-year-old Lameah and her sister survived an armed attack targeting girls and their families outside a high school in Kabul, last May. Many of their beloved friends and teachers did not survive – 85 people were killed and more than 200 others were injured.⁣

Every student and teacher should feel safe at school, yet for millions around the world, that is not a reality. More than 11,000 attacks against schools and universities were reported in the past five years alone.⁣

Attacks on schools, students and educators are attacks on children’s education and their future.⁣

On Thursday’s International Day to Protect Education from Attack, our message is clear: Schools are
