50% of the lands of East Azerbaijan are subject to the production leap plan in the drylands

According to Fars News Agency from Tabriz, Akbar Fathi at the conference Production mutation In the drylands of East Azerbaijan province, he said: “Considering that the highest area under cultivation in our province, ie over 60% of arable land is related to the drylands and on the other hand, rainfall is decreasing, the plan to increase production in the drylands is very important.”

He added: “This year, 200,000 farmers and 250 experts in the province are cooperating in the production leap project in the dry fields, which is being implemented with the participation of the executive headquarters of Imam Khomeini (as).”

The head of the East Azerbaijan Agricultural Jihad Organization, noting that this project uses scientific and technical principles to increase production, continued: “This project is very effective in ensuring food security.”

Fathi said: “Paying attention to genetics means proper use of introduced and modified seeds, which affects the yield, use of row work, cultivation and observance of technical principles in nutrition are among the scientific principles used in the production leap plan in dry fields.”

He said that by observing scientific principles, we can see an increase in production in the drylands, he said: This year, about 50% of the cultivated land in the province is subject to the production leap in the dry fields.

The head of the Jihad-e-Agriculture Organization of the province stated that last year the plan to increase production in the drylands along with 6 other provinces in East Azerbaijan In the form of The model was done, he said: Last year’s evaluation showed that in some farms, which were observed with scientific principles, accuracy and patience, we had an increase in production of 150 kg per hectare compared to other farms.

He said that the lack of rainfall forces us to use the production leap plan in rainfed fields, adding: in East Azerbaijan province, more than 60% of agricultural land is dedicated to rainfed cultivation.

He said that even irrigated lands are dry due to lack of rainfall, he said: in the world, 70% of cultivation is done in rainfed lands, while in our country more than 60% of production is obtained from irrigated lands.

The head of the Jihad-e-Agriculture Organization of the province pointed out that in other countries the performance of rainfed lands is better than our irrigated lands, noting: “For this purpose, scientific principles such as pest and weed control must be observed so that we can harvest a good crop from rainfed fields.”

He said: “If we can increase production by 100 kg per 400,000 hectares of rainfed lands in the province, the province’s production will increase by 40,000 tons, which in addition to having an effective role in food security, will also increase farmers’ livelihoods.” .

Fathi said that the use of improved and identified seeds has an important role in increasing the production of rainfed fields, adding that experts in the field should oblige farmers to use improved seeds.

He pointed out that scientific findings have shown that today fallow has no role in the meadow, but the cultivation frequency must be observed, he said: “Today we must determine the cultivation figures for the farmer.”
